2011 is rapidly coming to a close so now it’s time to take stock of where I came from and what direction I would like to head in for the new year.
This has been a tough year for a lot of my friends, stress, illness, death. As much as I would like to just forget all the hard times, it’s important to remember the people around me that are still hurting, still struggling. I may not be able to do much about it, but I certainly want them to know that they are in my thoughts and I am here if ever needed.
On the flipside of that, there has been a lot of happy this last year too. I got to go out to California for work, got a promotion, learned a lot about music, new toys, focused on new goals and generally spent more of the year happy than sad.
What will 2012 bring? Well, that all depends on your point of view. A friend of mine always had this woe is me sort of attitude. It was always about them, nothing ever went their way and it was always something against them. In the entire time I knew them, they never asked how I was or what was going on in my life. I mean, I’m talking on the scale of “Hey, how’s it going?” Nothing, no niceties, it was always an excuse to rant about who had done them wrong or why their life generally sucks. So, they were a friend? We decided to part ways earlier this year and I have to honestly say, I’m happy for it. Don’t get me wrong, I will always lend an ear for someone who had a bad day or just needs to vent. I enjoy that because it’s necessary. When I have a bad day, I vent. When stuff is just generally going wrong, I vent. But ALL the time gets a bit overwhelming. So as much as I feel sorry for this person, I just have to move on, let it be and hope they find their happy.
I believe with a positive outlook, you will achieve a positive outcome. Now it’s time to setup my goals and resolutions for the new year, the things I think will help me find my happy.
Resolutions and Goals
1. Explore more music
2. Improve my physical fitness (lose weight)
3. Cook more
4. Write more
5. Keep my websites up to date.
6. Make more time for friends
7. Make more time for family (especially my nieces and nephews)
8. Grow my financial stability
9. Computer program
10. Learn to speak french
11. Buy a house
12. Be happy more than not
I’m going to leave my list at 12 this year. Sometimes I go through and set all my goals for the year down to excruciating detail, but this year, the overall theme is the last one on the list. That should be everyone’s goal and the rest of the list will help me in that general direction. ![]()
